This coming Sunday, Emily and I, will be sharing about our upcoming trip to Brazil at Harvest Renewal Church in Richmond, Virginia. We’re excited to begin taking this small step to our dream of full-time missions by taking a short term trip to an Iris base in Fortaleza, Brazil. We will be leaving towards the later half of January and we will be gone for two weeks.
Over the last several years God has really put in our hearts a passion for missions. We desire to not only reach others with the truth of His love, but we also want to practically help others in need around the world. We believe Iris combines these two concepts together and we hope to learn a lot while we’re down there. If you’ve never heard of Iris Ministries, we would highly recommend you check out their website here! They have bases all over the world and have made tremendous impact in thousands of lives. The specific base we’re going to has a video that gives great insight into their vision and mission! You can check it out below.
We specifically chose Brazil for practical reasons. Emily speaks Portuguese, their official language, and has traveled there twice before. We really think it makes a huge difference when trying to do missions when you can speak the language. We’re just hoping now that I’m a fast enough learner to not embarrass myself too much!
As we prepare for the first steps into our dream, you can partner with us in several ways.
- You can pray for us and send us encouraging words! We would love to hear what God may be saying to us through you.
- You can give financial support. In total we need to raise $2,500 for the trip. We appreciate anything you are willing to give to this endeavor!
- Lastly, you can donate to the base. We will be collecting items the base itself may need. We are currently communicating with them on these items, but we will be updating the website shortly with that list!
Thank you all for your support in our First Steps into missions! Without family and community, no one could truly fulfill the destiny God created them for.
